About This Service

CFCSD association spiritual directors are located throughout Canada.  The following list of spiritual directors is intended to help you connect with a spiritual director near you. If you do not see a director listed in your immediate area, consider many of our spiritual directors who offer their ministries across distance via Face Time, Skype, Zoom or phone.

What Is Spiritual Direction

Spiritual Direction is the ministry of supporting people in their deepening awareness of the presence and action of God in their lives.

“Spiritual direction takes place when two people agree to give their full attention to what God is doing in one (or both) of their lives and seek to respond in faith … whether planned or unplanned, three convictions underpin these meetings: (1) God is always doing something: an active grace is shaping this life into a mature salvation; (2) responding to God is not sheer guesswork: the Christian community has acquired wisdom through the centuries that provides guidance; and (3) each soul is unique: no wisdom can simply be applied without discerning the particulars of this life, this situation.”

Finding My Spiritual Director

“How does one select a spiritual director? In many ways the process is similar to the ways we chose a counselor, a mentor, or a friend. Anytime we seek a meaningful relationship, we need to be intentional. When we search for a spiritual director, we also have the opportunity to hold our own ideas gently and to recognize God’s. The Holy Spirit is the one who brings people together for spiritual direction. Our task is to discern when we should take part in direction and with whom. Prayer is the primary pathway for our search.”

• Have received supervised training at a recognized training institute
• Are Partners/Members in good standing with CFCSD
• Live in Coram Diem; In the presence of, Under the authority of, To the honour and glory of God
• Follow a guideline for ethical conduct and/or Code of Ethics and the CFCSD Statement of Faith.

All CFCSD Supervisors In Addition To The Above:

Have received training in supervision at a recognized training institute(s)
